Quorn Jubilee Queen 1977

Loughborough Monitor - 3rd June 1977

A competition was organised to find the Jubilee Queen and Jubilee Princess for Quorn. It was divided into two groups, the 5-7 year olds having to draw a picture relating to the Queen's Jubilee and the 8-11 year olds have to write an essay on "What is a Queen?"

Mr Jim Dutton, deputy Principal of Rawlins School and Community College judged and the results were:

Jubilee Queen: Miss Julie Kinch (aged 10), 9 Cradock Drive, Quorn, and her attendants, Miss Kate Elliott (aged 9), 12 The Sandhills, Quorn; Miss Corina Leach (aged 8), 42 Toller Road, Quorn.

Jubilee Princess: Miss Maria Gamble (aged 6), 29 Leicester Road, Quorn, and her attendants, Miss Tracy Marsh (aged 6), 47 Unitt Road, Quorn; Miss Alison Aldwinkle (aged 5), 27 Warwick Avenue, Quorn; and Miss Fiona Harvey (aged 6), 111 Leicester Road, Quorn.

The winners were announced at the Vicar's picnic on the Stafford Orchard on Sunday when the Jubilee queen and Jubilee princess each received a silver locket and the five attendants each received a Jubilee mug. The entries will be exhibited at Rawlins school with the Sixth Form art exhibition from Thursday, 2nd June.
