Quorn Wakes 1925

Loughborough Monitor and Herald - 10th September 1925

Last Sunday was Quorn Wake Sunday, and a large number of visitors attended. The village green was quite a fair ground, and was the centre of attention. On Sunday evening, on the Wakes ground, an organ recital was given by Mr F Cox (with the Dragons), and a collection was taken to be divided between Leicester Royal Infirmary, Loughborough Hospital and the Quorn War Memorial (for providing flowers). A large number of people were present, the collection amounting to £13 15s 6d. Mr J J Stirling proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Cox for his kindness, and Mrs Lucas seconded. The programme was varied, the audience joining in singing the hymn, "God be with you till we meet again".

Quorn Wakes week brought many attractions to the village. The picture shows a brother making his little sister safe on the roundabouts.
