Information has been received that Sergt. Harold Beardmore has been promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He enlisted in the Leicesters, and was called up at the outbreak of war. He went to France in February 1915, and with the exception of one short leave in October of the same year he has been there all the time. He gained his sergeant's stripes within six months of landing in France.
He was educated at the Quorn Council schools. He is 21 years of age, and previous to the war was employed at Messrs M Wright and Sons' in the village. He has another brother serving in the Robin Hoods. Coming close upon his promotion, we learn that Sergt Beardmore's name appears in the list of those who have gained the military medal for bravery. This news has given great satisfaction in the village where the recipient is well known and highly respected. He is the son of Mr and Mrs J Beardmore, who reside in School Lane, Quorn.
