Quorn celebrates a royal wedding - 1893

Loughborough Herald - 13th July 1893

In honour of the royal wedding the village hall and grounds were secured and the Stafford Orchard placed at the disposal of the committee by Mr J S Cuffling. Tea was provided for the children of the village under 14, and a meat tea for the old people over 60. Sports were provided for them in the Stafford Orchard, Mr Henry Nicholson's band contributing much to the enjoyment of all. A grand display of fireworks wound up one of the most successful holidays ever held in Quorn.

The wedding in question was that of George, Duke of York (later George V) and Princess Mary of Teck (later Queen Mary).
