Quorn Parish Council meeting 1941 - Caravans on Village Green
Loughborough Echo - 7th March 1941
Parish Council meeting
Caravans on Village Green
The monthly meeting of Quorn Parish Council was held on Tuesday, Mr F W Bailey presiding. Notification was received that the County Council had agreed to erect notice-boards at the entrances of Castledine-Mansfield Street footpath and Barrow Road-Mansfield path, forbidding cycling.
A communication was read from Mr A E Tyler complaining of smoke nuisance and loss of privacy in his grounds since the parking of caravans was allowed by the Council on the village green. It was stated that it was impossible to overlook the property because of the high land that intervened, and Mr T C Dexter said that Mr Tyler's complaint was somewhat justified. Mr F Facer proposed that the tenants be asked to move their vans further away on the green as soon as the surface would permit.
Complaint was made as to alleged damage by youths in Stafford Orchard.
Mr F Draper reported on the recommendation on the recommendation of the Estates Committee on the placing of the public seats belonging to the village. The new Coronation Seat is to be moved to the War Memorial Gardens, on the lawn facing the Cross. One seat is to be placed in the spinney of the Barrow-Meynell Road corner, and one in Stafford Orchard.
Messrs Bream, Green, Dexter and Facer were re-appointed trustees of the Town Lands' Charity.
Present: Mr F W Bailey (chairman), Messrs F Draper, F Facer, W S Swinfield, W H Bream, T C Dexter and J J Stirling.
