Buddon Wood Farm History – Farming on the border lands

Buddon Wood Farm was an historic property located near Wood Lane in Quorn and part of the Lord Lanesborough, Swithland Estate. It was progressively lost due to the expansion of granite quarrying from the 1960s onward.

With the farmlands spreading across four parish boundaries, sometimes it is referenced as being in Rothley, Swithland, Mountsorrel, or Quorn. The Farmhouse itself straddles the Quorn and Mountsorrel parish boundary line. This article covers the life of the farm from the 1870’s up to its demise in the 1950’s. Malcolm Goward, Cathryn Martin and family helped with the research and the photographs.
