The War Story of Edith Evelyn Guyver, née Binsley

Edith Evelyn Guyver née Binsley 1921-2001, was a ‘listener’ at Beaumanor Hall Y Station in Woodhouse during WW2 and billeted for much of that time in Quorn. This fascinating document has been written by her son and gives a vivid insight into Edith as a person and her time in the ATS. Edith rarely spoke about the past and even less so about the war, although she did mention a few times that she had intercepted radio messages and how fast the Morse code was.
In fact, she was at the heart of operation 'Ultra', so called because it was more secret than the War offices' highest category 'Most Secret'.

The museum team are indebted to Edith’s son, Robert for writing her story and so generously sharing it.
