Huntsman’s Cottage, off Meynell Road, Quorn, 1906

This postcard is entitled Tom Firr’s Cottage, Quorn, 1906. Tom Firr was at one time the most famous huntsman in England, and lived here when he was huntsman to The Quorn Hunt, based at Quorn Hall.

The cottage, which is now a privately owned residence, is situated off Meynell Road, on the right, leading up to Quorn Hall.

The picture is taken from a watercolour painted by Alice Mary Hobson, who was born in Leicester in 1860 and died in Cornwall in 1954. She was a prolific artist and a member of the Society of Painters in Watercolours and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in London.
