Original Plans and Sections for Swithland Reservoir 1889/90

The pdf file below contains images of a large book (31 ins x 23 ins or 79cm x 57.5cm), dating from 1889/90. It contains plans and sections relating to the building of the (then) new Swithland Reservoir.

The cover says:

In Parliament – Session 1890
LEICESTER CORPORATION WATER
Plans & Sections of the intended new works
And
Plan of additional Lands intended to be acquired
November 1889
F. Griffith, Surveyor, Leicester
T.&C. Hawksley, Civil Engineers, 30 Great George Street, Westminster

Page 3 is particularly interesting as it shows part of Quorn, various paths and roads that were diverted/stopped and Brazil Wood, which is now Brazil Island.

The book, together with another dated 1866 relating to Bradgate (now Cropston) Reservoir, was in possession of the late Peter Gamble and kindly loaned by his daughter Jane Hollingworth. Both will be passed on to Leicestershire Record Office.
