Two Crescent Hosiery Co. Ltd, Quorn

Two Crescent Hosiery Co. Ltd was a hosiery company founded by George Farnham of Quorn House in 1952. George was 24 years old at the time and hoped the income from the business would help finance the estate. The company name was based on the two crescents that form part of the family Coat of Arms. The factory was situated on the estate alongside the Dutch barn in the family’s old Home Farm buildings and initially employed seven people. Children’s socks were the main product line. Later men’s socks were produced and in 1958 the company gave their address as New Mill, Leicester Road and they were in business into the 1980’s. Pictured are a pair of the companies socks and the New Mill factory.
