Quorn D-Day 80th Commemoration - 2024

In 2023 Quorn Local History Group created a project fund to assist groups or individuals undertaking research or work to preserve, record, or promote Quorn's history. Dennis Marchant made application to the group to fund the printing of a booklet entitled 'D-Day Quorn - What the People Say'. The project was to preserve submissions and ideas from local people about D-Day and was accepted.

Quorn was involved in many areas connected with the invasion including providing a base for the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the US 82nd Airborne Division, providing billets for the women's Army Territorial Service and the Royal Pioneer Corps, housing a Prisoner of War Camp and of course the many individuals who served or provided support on the home front.

The booklet is 'free of charge' to all QLHG members and supporters and as part of the grant conditions is available here.
