Mr Thomas Lucas c1925

Thomas Lucas was a watchmaker and had a shop at what is now number 7 High Street. Photo taken in the 1920s.

In 1885 he married Sarah Jane Jesson and they had six children. In 1911 the family are recorded as living at 18 High Street, which was then the Bulls Head Pub. It is thought by his family that the pub was run mainly by Sarah, whilst Thomas ran the jewellers shop just a short distance down the road.

Their son Jack (John Jesson Lucas), died in WW1.
