Quorn Cross, early 1960s

Although this view of Quorn looking from Meeting Street up towards Quorn Cross is easily recognisable today there are some significant differences. The main road was still the main A6, so well before the bypass was built in the 1990s – and no mini-roundabout.
Notice that the entrance to the White Horse is fronting on to Leicester Road – this is now a window (2023). Next to the White Horse is Armson’s newsagents shop and the thatched building on the left was Mr Hutchinson’s butcher’s shop with a telephone box nearby.
