Stafford Orchard Park, Quorn - Over 100 years as a recreation ground

The Stafford Orchard is often described as Quorn’s ‘Jewel in the Crown’. Its origins are lost in the mists of time, but it is now established as Quorn's premier park occupying a perfect spot in the centre of the village. It provides excellent community facilities and is a park that has been designed and run by the people of Quorn for over one hundred years.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic restrictions in place at the time, the Recreation Ground centenary could not be celebrated in the village in 2020, as would normally have been the case. The Stafford Orchard Advisory Group agreed that the centenary should be marked and this article was the result.

The article titled ‘Over 100 Years of Recreation’ appeared in the April 2021 edition of The Quorndon Village Life magazine. It is published here in its original form with a few minor corrections incorporated.
