The Quornian, Rawlins School Magazine, July 1950, Vol 5 No 2
Thomas Rawlins Grammar School opened in Quorn in 1892. In 1906 they launched their first school magazine, called The Quornian. Over the years the format and frequency of the magazine varied, as enthusiasm for the publication ebbed and flowed. Some years there were three editions, but at other times it almost folded. In the 1950s and 1960s, it tended to be produced once a year.
Most editions contain information about what is going on at the school at the time, details of staff, sports results, academic achievements, prizes, accounts of school trips/activities and often progress of past pupils.
The Quornian magazines provide a valuable insight into Quorn life in the twentieth century.
This edition is particularly interesting for two reasons:
(1) It is only a short time after the school went from co-ed to all girls.
(2) On the final page are autographs from nearly twenty girls.
