A TREE dedication ceremony has taken place in Quorn in memory of a local Campaign to Protect Rural England volunteer.
Three native small leafed lime trees were planted on Caves Field in Quorn on Sunday, March 29 in memory of Bill Edwards.
Joyce Noon, chairman of the Charnwood branch of the CPRE, said: “In his will he left a legacy to CPRE Leicestershire for the planting of trees and it was decided that it would be appropriate that they should be in the centre of his home village.
His widow, Mrs Doreen Edwards, and her family were present at the ceremony along with Councillor Gary Hughes, chair of Quorn Parish Council and Councillor Elizabeth Harrison, Chair of the QPC Environment Committee.
The Parish Council had undertook the responsibility of sourcing the trees and carrying out the planting.
The first photograph shows Joyce Noon (right), chairman of the Charnwood Campaign to Protect Rural England, presenting a bouquet of flowers to Doreen Edwards, the widow of late CPRE volunteer Bill Edwards.
The second photograph shows the three lime trees maturing in October 2022.
