QUORN PROPERTY UNDER THE HAMMER
Quorn freehold properties fetched the following prices when submitted to auction by Mr. T.B. Garton, at Garton and Woolley’s Loughborough mart:—
Mile Farm [Mill Farm], grass holding of 24 acres comprising house and buildings, trout stream, occupied by Mr. T.C. Frisby until April, 1935, rental £60, sold for £735;
Corner building site, Leicester Road and Wood Lane, 2,020 square yards £260;
Nos. 17, 19, 21, Leicester Road (gross rental £49 11s. 2d.), £485;
Nos 3 (part), 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15, Leicester Road (gross annual rental £74 0s. 8d.), £500;
No. 21 [51], Meeting Street (gross annual rental £32 10s.), £300;
No. 23 [53], Meeting Street (£15 19s.), £270;
No. 27 [61], Meeting Street (£21 4s.), £350;
No. 29, Meeting Street (£18 5s.), £215;
Nos. 31, 33, 35, 37, 39 and 41 [71, 73, 75, 77, 79 and 81], Meeting Street (£85 18s. 2d.), £760.
Note:
(a) Mile Farm should read Mill Farm (off Chaveney Road) - confirmed to electoral records.
(b) Meeting Street was renumbered in 1952, the equivalent numbers today where available are shown in square brackets.
(c) The Leicester Road properties were various cottages where Wakerley Court is today.
(d) All this property was owned by the Farnham family and sold after George Francis Farnham died in 1933.
