Harold Crossley, Quorn Fields Farm

Harold Crossley was a hostler (ie he looked after the horses), employed by farmer Percy Moss in the 1930s, 40s and 50s, at Quorn Fields Farm (also known as Quorn Lodge Farm). There were two small cottages next to the main farmhouse and Harold and his wife Florence (Flo), lived in the left-hand one of the pair. Flo worked at Lewis’s butchers in Loughborough, on the corner of High Street and Pinfold Gate.

This photograph of Harold with two of the farm horses was taken on what was known as Long Lane, ie the lane leading down to the farm. Today the lane is a small exit/entrance off the One Ash roundabout to the north of Quorn.
