Quorn Golden Jubilee Celebrations, May 2002

The Quorndon Magazine had reported that for the 4th year running, the sun shone on the villages May Day celebrations on 5th May 2002. There had been an excellent turn-out considering that the FA Cup Final, and the semi-final of the Snooker World Championships, were rival attractions.

These pictures are of the opening ceremony where Quorn was honoured by the presence of the Mayor and Mayoress of Charnwood, who opened the celebrations. They show the organising committee members Joan Bloodworth (holding the little girl’s hand) and Phil Child (speaking at the microphone). The Mayoress and Mayor of Charnwood (Councillor and Mrs Green, to the right of Phil Child in the top picture) and the Parish Council Chairman John Hutchinson (to the right of the Mayor).
