Quorndon Parish Council – the best in the country!

This article appeared in the press shortly after Quorndon Parish Council was named National Council of the Year in 2002 – an outstanding achievement!

Council is named top in the country
Residents in the picturesque village of Quorn are used to high standards in community projects. But the Charnwood village has now been recognised nationally for the shining example its parish council has set for the rest of the country.
Quorn Parish Council has been awarded the prestigious National Council of the Year Award.
A panel of judges bestowed the title on the village council after it carried out an in-depth study of what makes Quorn such a great place to live.
Chairman of the parish council Councillor John Hutchinson said ‘I was surprised to hear we had won. Winning the award has pointed out what we as a council has done well, but it has also made us conscious that there is so much more to be done. We have a lot of support from people in the community who are always helping out on a voluntary basis.’’ He said projects over the last few years which had helped improve residents’ quality of life included regular newsletters, community events and a local job finder service.
