Quorn Rawlins Grammar School WW1 Memorial Shield

This shield was presented to Rawlins Grammar School by George and Mary White from Quorn, who lost two of their three sons in WW1. It was dedicated to their youngest son Frank Cuthbert White, who died on 13th May 1915, at the Battle of Frezenburg, (second battle of Ypres). He was just 20 years old and a Trooper in the Leicestershire Yeomanry. Seven young men from Quorn lost their lives that day.

The shield is engraved:
"Quorn Grammar School
Cadet Corps
Presented by Mr & Mrs Geo White
in memory of
Trooper Frank Cuthbert White
B Squadron
Leicestershire Yeomanry
Killed in action near Ypres
13th May 1915"
