Children playing in the River Soar, Quorn approx 1941

This is the small area of public land still in existence adjacent to Soar Road. In the distance hidden by trees is Santa Maria Lodge, and the left edge of the arch bridge can just be seen.

The little girl standing with the floppy hat on is Eileen Harold (now Eileen Harrison), the lad next to her is Clifford Newton and on the far right is Reg Ottey.

Thanks to Cliff Newton and his eagle eyed daughter for the names! Cliff was born and raised at 18 Freehold Street.
