Smashing a factory window 1897

Charles Wm Lovett, labourer, Mountsorrel, did not appear to a summons for committing wilful damage to a window in Messrs Wright's factory, at Quorn, on the 5th inst. Thomas Winterton, labourer, Quorn, stated that he saw defendant throw a stone through the window. Wm Turner, the factory manager, put the damage at 1s 6d. PC Grant said the defendant told him he was kicking stones about the road, and one went through the window. Fined 10s including costs and 1s 6d damage or five days.
