Wood Lane – Lost cottages

Some cottages that once stood on Wood Lane have been either demolished or totally engulfed by Mountsorrel Quarry – much of which is actually in the parish of Quorn. This article, which appeared in the Quorndon Magazine in Summer 2016, tells us about three of these properties, namely Woodside Cottage, Buddon Wood House and Buddon Wood Farm, all of which are now just distant memories. A map, based on a 1904 Ordnance Survey map, reveals some dramatic changes to landscape as a result of the expansion of the quarry over the years.
