A Quorn boxer, managed by Tiger Allen, 1930s

This unusual studio photograph shows a boxer with the initials TS. The reverse of the card tells us that his forename is Tommy and his surname is Sheild, Shield or even possibly Sneith. Underneath it says “Sole manager Tiger Allen, both of Quorn”.

We know from artefact 201 that Tiger Allen was managing boxers the 1930s, however it is not possible to identify exactly who he was as the 1938 electoral roll shows 9 Allen families living in Quorn, with 25 individual family members recorded!
