Vena Grain, 1895 to 1989. Oral history interview from 1985

Vena Grain was born in Leicester on 21st February 1895, and the family moved to Quorn in 1901 when she was six years old. She lived at 2 Barrow Road in Quorn until she moved into sheltered accommodation in the 1970s.

The first part of this item, appeared as an article in The Quorndon magazine, spring edition 2016. It is followed by a full transcription of an oral history interview, which was conducted by historian Shirley Aucott in 1985 when Vena was ninety years old. Quorn Village On-line Museum is grateful to Leicester University’s East Midlands Oral History Archive, for permission to transcribe the original interview with Vena.

The original sound file can be heard on the University of Leicester website (external website).
