Quorn United Cricket Club – Presentation cricket ball, 1896

Sam Hallam was a well-known Quorn character and was involved in many aspects of village life. He worked at Wright’s factory for 51 years, was president and treasurer of Quorn Allotment Society, a leading member of Quorn Mills Bowls Club and associated with Quorn Cricket Club for 57 years.

The cricket ball in the photograph was presented to him in 1896. The inscription on the silver shield reads:
“Q.U.C.C.

Sam Hallam lived at 32 Wood Lane, Quorn, and died in 1959, aged 87.
