Food rationing in Quorn in WW1

Loughborough Herald - 31st January 1918

Quorn News - Food Control
The local Food Control Committee have made a commencement with the work of registration for the supply of butter and margarine for the inhabitants. After consultation with the county authority they have decided to issue ration cards, which it is hoped will be in the hands of householders in the course of a few days. The grocers have already been registered, and when the scheme is in working order they will receive supplies through the usual wholesale houses, and the amount allotted will be on the basis of the old sugar cards, the new cards being for the purpose of checking each week's supply. It is hoped that by this method an equitable supply will be received by each householder. Mr E C Laundon has been elected to represent the local committee on the county committee.
