Roll Call at the Old Primary School, Quorn

Photograph taken in the playground of the old primary school. The placard held by the girl on the left (Pearl Taylor) reads "Quorn C of E School, Farnham House, 1947".

This tells us that the school had a house system at this time. Pearl tells us (via her sister-in-law Joan Bloodworth) that Farnham House was Blue, Chaveney House was Red and Meynell House was Yellow.

Comments from Barbara Haines August 2009:
I was the 4th child along on the left (Barbara Postans) back row and third from right back row is John Pritchard. We were both evacuated with Mr and Mrs Bottom at 1 Mansfield street.

A couple of the boys - Jimmy Aylward and Johnny Halford - top row 5th and 6th from right respectively - appear in the Quorn School Football Team c1947 photo (artefact 760).

Comments from Steve Howlett, October 2010:
The handsome lad in the white shirt (front row, third from right) is my father who now lives in Barrow upon Soar.

Comment from Cynthia Gilliver, Feb 2011:
The fourth boy from the right on the back row is Keith Folkes (Brook house) now sadly deceased

Summary:
Back row (left to right):
Hilary Waterfield, Shirley Mitchell, ?, Barbara Postans, Christine Baum, ?, ?, Johnny Halford, Jimmy Aylward, Keith Folkes, John Pritchard, ?, ?

Front row (left to right):
Pearl Taylor (holding the board), ?, Lily Pagett, ?, ?, ?, thought to be Margaret Forsyth, ?, ?, Alan Clarke, ?, Derek Howlett, David Lovett, Walter Turner
