Parcels Fund concert - 1939

Loughborough Echo - 1st December 1939

The Village Hall was well filled on Wednesday for the War-time Parcels Fund concert. Mr Murray Rumsey, the compere, asked the audience to stand before the programme began to the memory of an old friend, Mr Fred Facer, who had that day been laid to rest. They all knew how hard he had worked for the parcel fund, of which he was the treasurer. Songs were given by Miss May Johnson and Mr Murray Rumsey, who also sang a duet with Canon H H Rumsey, humorous items by Mr G L North, recitations by Mrs Nellie Baum and Sergt-Major Jones, who also sang, violin solos by Mr E Jelley and a display of magic by Mr W P Bray, of the Leicester Magic Circle, Mr Roland Baum being the accompanist. Coffee was served for the artistes in the interval, and the whole of the takings will be devoted to the parcels fund.
