Details are to hand of the deeds for which Sergt. (now 2nd Lieut.) Harold Beardsmore of Quorn was awarded the Military Medal. The award was made for devotion to duty and conspicuous gallantry.
During a heavy bombardment he patrolled portions of the trenches which had been blown in, and continually fired his rifle to give the impression that the trench was occupied. On another occasion during a heavy bombardment, his coolness and courage and leadership were noted, and on several occasions he attended to wounded under heavy fire.
