Quorn Girls' Friendly Society on an outing in about 1929

This photograph and short article appeared in the press in the 1990s. It was submitted by Phyllis Field, whose daughters have allowed Quorn Village On-line Museum to republish the picture and Phyllis's words.

In their Sunday best
Nearly 70 years ago when this picture was taken - grown ups put on their Sunday best for days out and wrapped up against the British weather.
The lady on the right of the group is wearing a fox fur stole and the other one a fur coat with a fur collar, yet some of the girls are in short sleeve summer frocks.
Judging from the deck-chairs being out and the smiling faces - the sun must have shone on the party.

"We were members of the Quorn Girls' Friendly Society on an outing in about 1929 but I can't remember where we went", explains Mrs Phyllis M Field (nee Broom) - fifth from the left on the back row.
Phyllis does still remember the names of all the other girls on the picture and that the grown-ups supervising were Mrs Ivy Chamberlain (left) and Miss Ethel Adams.
