St Bartholomew's Church Sunday School outside the Church Rooms

This photograph was taken outside the Church Rooms in either 1953 or 1954. It is St Bartholomew's Church Sunday School with the Vicar, the Revd Teddy Pilling.

At this time, children always wore their 'best clothes' for Sunday School. Judith Field recalls that her mum (Phyllis Field), made her, her older sister and her cousin 'coronation dresses' - in pink material with a pattern of 'golden coaches'. They are wearing them on this picture - and Judith being the youngest, later had her sister's hand-me-downs, and was wearing 'golden coaches' into the late 1950s!
