The Banks - Finette Webster

This photograph of the Banks cottages shows Finette Webster, third from the right, standing in the doorway of her cottage. Finette was the wife of Thomas Webster and in earlier years they had run a bakery business from their home (and shop), at the end of the Banks, in what is now 29 High Street. Finette had continued to run the business herself after Thomas’s death, aged 57, in 1915. The Banks cottages were demolished in the early 1970s.

The date of the photograph is not known, but judging from Finette’s age and the clothes, it is probably the late 1940s.
