The Hurst - 1975

The Hurst (now the Chequers chinese restaurant) was a popular haunt for young people in the 1970s.

In January 2012 Anthony Cove added the following information:
'There used to be a petrol station on the front of the Hurst when it was a transport cafe. When I had my first motor in 1955 the petrol was 3/3 & 3/9 a GALLON, I can't remember what the difference was, & they served you.'
