Leicester Road - then and now

The older photograph shows cottages and shops on Leicester Road being demolished in 1977. The land is now occupied mainly by houses on Weavers Close, although Wright's factory still own a small part.

The modern picture shows the wider context. The end of the buildings on the right-hand side of the older picture, would be roughly between the tree and the lamp-post on the modern photograph.

It is interesting to note that you can see the old Wright's chimney in the background.
