Going, going, gone! - Leicester Road cottages

These cottages, shops and houses were on Leicester Road where The Mills flats are now. They were demolished during the 1970s. Richard Thompson, who lived opposite in Quorn Terrace, took this series of photographs after the main demolition had started and a chimney one the end was being taken down. Health and Safety regulations and hard hats were obviously not a major consideration at this time!
