Quorn Workmen's Outing 1899

Loughborough Herald - 28th September 1899.

On Saturday the employees of Mr W H Fewkes, builder, Quorn, had an outing to Matlock, whither they travelled by the Midland Railway. This Derbyshire pleasure resort was reached at half-past nine. Rambling among the hills and exploring the great Cumberland cavern, passed the time away until dinner, which was partaken of at the Albion Temperance Hotel.

The afternoon was spent in further rambles, and the party once more met at the Albion Hotel for tea. The return journey was commenced at nine o'clock, Barrow station being reached by 10.30, all the men being well satisfied with their day's outing.
