Quorn Church Fire, 24th October 1965

In October 1965 there was a terrible fire at St Bartholomew's Parish Church. It started in the choir vestry at the foot of the tower and rapidly spread. The nave was almost destroyed. The bell tower suffered severe damage – the bells were cracked and the bell ropes, wooden supports, wheels and the clock were all badly affected. It would take two years before the Church was fully repaired.
