Leicester Road, The Gas House - then and now

The older picture was taken on Leicester Road in the 1930s. It is looking up from what is now The Brinks. At this time it was the Gas Works and the house on the right was known as the ‘Gas House’. It has since been demolished.

The new picture is the same view in 2011. Not only has the Gas House disappeared, but so has the King William IVth pub and Wright’s chimney.
