John Disney, boot and shoe maker, The Banks, Quorn

John Disney was born in 1870, his parents being John and Ann Disney, an established Quorn family. This photograph shows the younger John in the centre, with his mother Ann Disney (by this time a widow) on the left. John's sister Martha is on the right, (both married in 1909). The photograph was taken after the elder John had died in 1902 and his son had taken over the boot and shoe making business.

The Disneys occupied the cottage and shop at the South end of the Banks on High Street, ie the end nearest Quorn Cross. These properties were owned and rented out by the Townlands Charity.
