C.H. Teagle, Chimney Sweep, Quorn, is starting in business again and is accepting orders on and after November 14th.

Lieut. Ernest Bancroft, 2nd Royal Sussex Regiment, has been promoted to the rank of captain.

On Monday the Conservative Club met the “Bull’s Head” at darts and won by the odd leg. S. Freeman scored 140 for the winners.

Pte P.G. Young, of the Parachute Regiment, is now in Tel Aviv en route for the Far East. He was formerly in the Quorn Home Guard and worked for a time for Messrs. Facer and Son as a joiner. He sees the Echo every week.

Mrs. Lionel Freeman, whose marriage in South Africa was recently announced in these columns, arrived in Liverpool on Saturday after encountering severe weather. She arrived at Quorn on Sunday.

The Quorn branch of the County Library is now firmly established in its new premises in Station Road. The branch has an allocation of 1,300 books and nearly 500 registered readers. Since its opening in June, 5,925 books have been issued, made up as follows: Fiction, 3,392; juvenile, 1.326; non-fiction, 1,307.

The Adult School had under discussion on Sunday morning the tragic situation in Europe as revealed by the speech of the Foreign Secretary in the House of Commons debate. Mr. W. Jacques, M.A., who introduced the subject, also quoted from speeches from all Parties in the House, revealing a state of affairs serious and full of tragedy.
