Quorn Man Fined £5

Loughborough Echo 24th January 1936.

The seriousness of failing to report an accident within 24 hours was shown by the magistrates when they imposed a fine of £5 and 8/3 costs on Douglas S Cairnes, of Quorn.

It was alledged that Cairnes collided with the rear of a van belonging to A Daft, a cheesemaker of Wymeswold. The accident occurred at Quorn in the fog. Daft's son was in the van and he took the number of the vehicle which failed to stop.

Cairns said he was struck by a trailer of a motor-car which swung out of Wood Lane, Quorn and his car was damaged. He was involved in no other accident.

Defendant did not appear.
