Honour for a Quorn Yeoman 1915

Loughborough Herald - 15th July 1915

Official intimation has been received at the headquarters of the Leicestershire Yeomanry that the D. C. M. has been awarded to Squad-Sergeant-Major J P Swain for the very conspicuous bravery shown on the memorable May 13th. The gallant sergeant-major is at present in France. He is well known in the village, and the recognition of his brave conduct will be appreciated by his many friends. Sergeant-Major Swain has been in the Yeomanry for a number of years, and saw service in South Africa. He is married to the elder daughter of Mr Geo. White, of this village.
