Man’s death ‘accidental’ - 1964
Loughborough Monitor - 21st February 1964
A Loughborough jury on Tuesday returned a verdict of accidental death at the inquest on Mr Wilfred Ernest Mee (71), retired foreman carpenter, of 6, Craddock Drive, Quorn, who died instantly from head injuries when a lorry ran over him last Friday as it reversed into a lane at the side of the Bull’s Head Hotel, Quorn.
Two witnesses including a policeman had told Coroner Mr M H Moss, that the van delivering frozen foods to the hotel, was being driven in a perfectly proper and normal manner just before the accident.
Mr Moss called the driver, Mr Joseph Seston, of 76 Campbell Drive, Carlton, Nottinghamshire who had never had an accident in 22 years, but did not ask him any questions – nor did Mr A Straw for the relatives, nor Mr J Rodgers, representing Mr Seston.
