Death of Mr Tommy Gartshore of Quorn

Loughborough Echo - 17th March 1972

Mr Thomas (Tommy) Gartshore, who died in hospital on March 4th, was born in Quorn and lived there almost all his life. At the age of 19 he lost his right arm in an accident at work. During his lifetime he had many jobs among them working at Tuckers’ Brickyard, delivering meat for Mr Ward the butcher, a security officer for M Wright and Sons during the war, then working at Fisons until he retired.

In his spare time he did some gardening for local residents and also some nightwatching. He married at the age of 50 but had been a widower for the last 10 years. He was well-known in angling circles and also did some shooting
