Quorn Work's Outing - 1873
Loughborough Advertiser - August 21st 1873
Treat for work people
On Friday last, the 15th inst, the work people of Messrs Webster and Crossley, of this village, had their annual outing. The party, numbering 130 left Barrow station at 6.28, arriving at Cleethorpes at 10.20. The weather was exceptionally fine, and a great holiday was made by the excursionists. A large number (and especially of the fair sex) had a dip in the sea, which they appeared to enjoy amazingly, whilst most them had a turn upon the water. The docks of Grimsby were duly inspected, and the party started on the return journey at 6.15, reaching Barrow at 10.20. There was no case of drunkenness or accident, everything passing off as “merry as a marriage bell”.
