Quorn Stationmaster - presentation to Mr W Youle 1927

Loughborough Monitor and Herald - 15th September 1927

A "smoker" was held at the Manor House Hotel, Quorn, on Friday, when many of the friends of Mr William Youle, the late stationmaster, gathered to bid him good-bye. Mr J A Hartopp presided, and during the evening presented Mr Youle with an illuminated address and a cheque for fifty guineas. The address was signed by Lord Huntington, Mr W M Curzon-Herrick, Sir Arthur Wheeler, and Mr Hartopp, and congratulated Mr Youle on his promotion.

Mr Hartopp spoke of the conscientious and courteous way in which Mr Youle had carried out his duties during the ten years he had been at Quorn. The people of Quorn regretted that he was leaving them, but they had every good wish for him in his new sphere.

Mr Youle, who is going as stationmaster at Great Horton and Horton Park, near Bradford, was an inspector at Doncaster before he came to Quorn. He is succeeded by Mr A E Short, who has been a departmental chief clerk at Belgrave Station.

Messrs J E Lane and S Dodds contributed songs during the evening.
