Wright's Mill
Michael Wright came to Quorn from Leicester in 1870 to manufacture elastic webbing. By 1881 the factory employed nearly 400 people, mainly women. This increased to nearly 700 by 1896.
During the first World War the factory supplied much webbing equipment for the armed forces and over 2,000 people were employed on shift systems. By the Second World War the company owned 6 factories and employed 5,000 in total.
The factory is still in (reduced) operation. Much of the mill is now converted to luxury apartments.
