Herbert Waite (born 1881 in Quorn, Leicestershire) is a great-great-grandfather of Connor Sharp.
Robert Sharp has also provided this anecdote:
Fred Waite, by the way, was Herberts half-brother, the third of 8 children born to Thomas Waite and Matilda Read. Thomas died before Herbert was born in 1881 and I have no idea who Herbert's father was!
Herbert's wife Frances was born Frances Sarah Willey Noon and the story goes that when she married Herbert she decided to keep the Willey while changing the Noon. I do not know whether she realized the significance of Herbert's surname but when the pair came down the churchyard path after the wedding the Quorn villagers were lined up, shouting "Hey, Missus, Willey Waite". i.e. will he wait?
Well, he did not! They were married in October 1903 and my mother made her debut in April 1904!
